Children’s Ministry
Skyland Church is dedicated to sharing the love of Christ with pre-k and elementary aged children in and around our community. There are children’s ministry events throughout every week at Skyland and we have numerous special outings with the children to various places like the Atlanta Zoo, Georgia Aquarium, and the New World of Coke.
Our weekly programs include:
- Tuesday Tutoring – Pre-k to 5th grade students flock to our tutoring center every Tuesday from 2:30pm to 4:30pm for free tutoring from our wonderful tutoring staff. Our volunteer staff includes retired teachers, professionals and ministers. Snack is provided from 2:30pm to 3:00pm.
- King’s Kids – Every Wednesday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Skyland Church offers a kid’s church experience for pre-k (4 years and up) to 5th grade children. We spend our time worshiping and learning about the powerful, life transforming love of God shown to us by Jesus Christ and through the Old Testament stories.
- Once a Month Wednesdays! – The last Wednesday of the month during King’s Kids, the children’s ministry has a fun event just for the sake of fun! This is a great opportunity to come check us out.
- Sunday School – Sunday School begins at 10:00am on Sunday mornings. A wide variety of Sunday School classes are offered for adults as well.

Youth Ministry
“I am the new face of Christianity! Separated from this world, I am part of a generation committed to boldly and passionately seeking after One thing!”
YOUTH in grades 6th through 12th are welcome to be a part of our group! Come and learn what it is to live a life for Jesus Christ in this day and time, for all your days and all the time!
Youth UNITE every Sunday at church on the 3rd floor in the youth room from 4-6pm! We play games, talk about what’s going on in our lives, study the Word, pray for each other, and laugh, a lot! COME and hang out with us! Once a month we have special trips or activities during youth designed to help you invite your friends to church.
UNITE with us for service projects in the community. Working with the Salvation Army, Buckhead Christian Ministries, or just helping out church members are good ways for us to make a difference even though we are young.
We are on-the-go! Christian music festivals, conferences, concerts, camps and movies UNITE us. Just to enjoy our part of Atlanta, our church, and our youth room, we LOCK-IN to play crazy games, fill ourselves with junk food, and stay up all night! Fundraisers help with the costs of youth activities. Special dinners & events are hosted by the youth, & the Annual Valentine’s Day Carnation Fundraiser is a big hit as well. We fundraise to pay for summer mission camp and to continue doing fun things at low costs for our youth!
Young Adults
Tired of clubs and bars? Are you looking for true friendships with people who honestly care about you? Are you looking for something more?
Do you have a passion for worshiping Jesus Christ? Are you tired of religion? Do you want a relationship with the living God?
Are you looking for a safe and family-friendly place with great programs for your kids? Do you want a loving, church family?
Our focus as the Young Adults of Skyland is to bring a passion for seeking the Lord in all we do through prayer, intercession, worship, Bible study, service and sharing Jesus. If this sounds like what you’re looking for, then Skyland is the place for you!
Our hope is to create opportunities for young adults to invite friends to fellowship events in order to meet other members of the church. We meet the second Saturday of each month for fellowship events, which include going out to dinner, going to Stone Mountain, bonfires & cook-outs at each other’s homes, movies and going to local events in Atlanta.
The young adult group is comprised of college-age adults, singles, and young families. We are actively involved in church leadership and service, including working on the mission house and helping to organize the Block Party every summer. Young adults also lead contemporary worship and volunteer with the youth group. Soon we will establish a mentoring program for the youth and children of the church.
Men’s Ministry
The Men of Skyland Church meet on the third Sunday of each month for breakfast, fellowship and study. Special programs are presented throughout the year:
- Valentine Sweetheart Banquet (February) Featuring the Sweetheart of the Year
- Spring Retreat at Hinton Rural Life Center in Hayesville, NC
- Ladies Day (May)
- Fall Retreat at Rock Eagle 4H Camp
- Covered Dish Dinner & Auction (October)
- Family Dinner (November) featuring the Man of the Year,
Our Mission is to seek daily the way of Christ with Prayer and Bible reading, to bear witness to this way in our daily work and personal contacts, and to engage in Christian service. We provide “fix up” work at the Church or at he home of those in need. We also visit local nursing homes and lend help to the homeless.
We support The United Methodist Children’s Home and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Women’s Ministry
Several interest groups and potpourri groups are available for Bible Study, Arts and Crafts, fellowship, and prayer and sharing. The purpose of the Skyland women’s ministry is to know God, develop a supportive fellowship and make valuable contributions through missions. Throughout the year special events and retreats are offered. We invite you to join these women as they make a difference through prayer, study, education and action. These groups are open and available:
- Arts & Crafts meets 1st Tuesday of every month at 1:00PM
- Parlor Pals meets 2nd Monday January-May/September-December at 7:00PM
- Potpourri meets 4th or 5th Saturday January-May/September-December at 6:30PM
- YWOAA meets 2nd Wednesday January-May/September-December at 10:00AM
The Skyland Women’s Ministry supports Wesley Woods and the United Methodist’s Children’s Home.
Membership in the UMW is open to all women and is one of the most enjoyable ways to get to know the women of our church, and to engage in a variety of worthwhile service activities.
Senior’s Ministry
The senior adults at Skyland Church meet regularly for fellowship and devotions. Together we enjoy fellowship meals, line dancing, crafts and special holiday events.

Several Bible Studies and Small Groups are available throughout the week:
Children’s and youth Bible study groups are available for:
- Pre-K and Kindergarten
- 1st Grade - 3rd Grade
- 4th Grade through 8th Grade
- 9th Grade through 12th Grade
We also have seven adult Small Groups to choose from:
- College age
- Young Adults
- Bible Study for Spanish speakers
- Three Adult Bible Study Groups depending on interest
- Senior Adult Bible Study Group

Missions & Outreach
Skyland Church’s Missions & Outreach team is active in helping spread the good news throughout our community and the world! We support local missions like Buckhead Christian Ministries and Interfaith Outreach Homes, as well as sponsoring international missionaries as far away as Mozambique! We also offer community programs such as a weekly bread ministry, tutoring for elementary students, and English as a Second Language classes.
Conrad Meaders Mission House
Skyland Church is excited about our newest gift to the world, the Conrad Meaders Memorial Missions House. The house is available for long term missionaries returning from the field who need short term residence between assignments. The importance of dependable housing between mission assignments is a true blessing for those who are on the front lines fulfilling the Great Commission. Skyland Food and Bread Ministry
Each Wednesday morning fresh vegetables, fruit and bread are delivered to those in need.
